Location: Auckland, North Island, New Zealand
Description: My sound is my own; I write music, play it, sing it, record and produce it. I had my own idea of my own sound many years ago and it has at last come to reality.
Biography: Tommie Brewster - the soulful voice of blues http://www.tommiebrewster.com
I have been a musician all my life and cannot remember a time when I didn’t play piano. I started before I was 4 years old and studied classical music at the Royal Academy of Music in London, playing several other instruments also.

Just recently, I hit the Top Ten of the Roots Music Report in the Blues chart with my first album In The Making - this is a huge achievement for me as I sit there above such greats as Etta James, Elvin Bishop, Los Lonely Boys with my own self produced music.

The track Can’t Leave You Alone from the album was released as my first ever single in October 2008 and immediately went to number 7 in the Reverbnation blues chart and is still in there! - I have had great responses to all my subsequent single releases and this has all helped me to remain at Number One Blues artist nz on Reverbnation for Two and a half years now.

I was inducted into the USA Blues Hall of Fame in 2010 as Ambassador to New Zealand which is a great honor .
And I am equally proud to be an Ambassador for the anti-child trafficking UKCharity Act Against Injustice
I also create and perform Spoken Word which can be heard on the dedicated website http://www.tommietalking.com

And now I’m having success as a radio host, with my interview show Tommie Talks Music which broadcasts on the Womens Radio network, and is syndicated on 7 other networks. More recently I was invited to do a daily weekday show interviews and music on the Zeus Radio Network - all good fun and I get to chat with some amazing musicians.

Press Release:

When I set out on my road to put my music out into the world, it was a very brave step for me, especially putting my feet into the Blues World of the USA with my own particular style of blues the way I create it and hear it.

Many people told me that it was an impossible task for me to achieve any presence, chart rankings or popularity with my music; I persevered. I totally believe in my own music and the way I produce it: I don't copy or sample or cover other people's work; I work hard to produce the sound I first heard in my head when each particular song was conceived and it has been a mountain to climb rather than a learning curve in terms of understanding the intracies of recorded sound.

I'm old fashioned: I write my music down on manuscript paper; I record a real piano and real drums and everything else as authentically as I can; I usually only have one take of my vocal: I don't 'tweak' my voice nor my piano performance.

I'm not saying this is the right way to do things, merely that it is MY way of doing things and so many people out there have responded to whatever it is I manage to capture within the recordings of my own creativity.

So I am extremely proud of myself; I hung in there and believed and kept going and did it ALL myself.

And here I am with my first album, In The Making, self produced and marketed in my own way by me - here I am with it at #6 in the RootsMusicReport Blues Chart amongst such blues greats as Janis, Clapton, Tedeschi, etc......getting enough airplay to get me to these lofty heights.

It may not seem a huge thing to many people but to me it is immense; and I thank all those lovely people out there in internet radio land who helped me get there by playing the tracks from this album.

Music is indeed my life -

and it just got that bit better!
