Hamilton Singer Fern Viola Releases 2 New Albums
Fern Viola has had a long run as one of Hamilton’s best known Baritone voices.
At some point he has sung on just about every stage this city has to offer and
his accomplishments have been reported many times in the pages of the Hamilton Spectator.
His booming voice is familiar to anyone who has heard him sing his stirring renditions of the Canadian and American national anthems at football, baseball and hockey games in Hamilton, Toronto, and Pittsburgh. He has sung his bilingual version of O Canada in front of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau who nicknamed Fern “Mr. O Canada”.
Fern has also had a long-time love affair with the songs and singing styles of crooners Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and Tony Bennett to whom he paid tribute and offered a musical salute performing at Hamilton Place and Theatre Aquarius to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, City Kidz and autistic children.
Well, now, 20 years after the release of his last album, Fern presents 2 new albums both to his fans locally and abroad and thru the internet to the world on sites like Itunes, Amazon, CDBaby and others.
MY FAITH with Fern Viola and Al Bachmann contains a unique mix of love songs in the crooner style along with religious classics done in a new way.
ANTHEMS is a collection of national anthems and patriotic songs of the world starting with both English and French versions of O Canada for which he is so well known.
Both albums are also now available at www.djcompanionrecords.com.
On these albums Fern collaborates with composer Al Bachmann who composed many of the songs on the albums. Al started playing the piano at the age of 6 and never looked back. He is a truly amazing man in the musical field whose artistry is simply phenomenal. Originally from Germany, Al moved to Canada in 1956 and has lived in Caledonia most of those years. One of the highlights of his career was on June 28, 1997 when he was commissioned to play music for Queen Elizabeth II while she was visiting Canada.
Al has recorded a number of LPs, tapes and CDs some of which were produced or re-released by DJ Companion Records. For 4 years Al hosted his own “REVERIE” program on CKLH-FM and he appeared on CHCH- TV 11’s The Best Is Yet To Come for 2 seasons. Al’s own love of music is obvious as you listen to him play.
DJ Companion Records is proud to represent and license music from a number of artists encompassing many genres of music including jazz, crooner, adult contemporary, christian, polka, classical piano, various world music groups and even comedy. DJ Companion Records aims to release quality cds that can be enjoyed by a wide cross-section of listeners.
